Why they do what they do, and how does it fit with their passions, values and skills, and how does it make them come alive?

Matt Earley has worked for over a decade to help shape a more ethical and sustainable coffee industry and to build partnerships between communities in coffee country and the US. He is a co-founder of Just Coffee Cooperative, and taken it from a two-person company to a cooperative that employs over two dozen great people. His passion is re-shaping our concept of business to put the highest premium on creating a transparent model of trade that is a vehicle for mutually beneficial relationships.
Just Coffee Cooperative is a worker-owned coffee roaster dedicated to creating and expanding a model of trade based on transparency, equality, and human dignity. Just Coffee strives to build long-term relationships with small-scale coffee growers and to provide its customers a truly incredible cup of coffee. JC is one of the biggest Fair Trade coffee roasters in the midwest and has grown into a successful business with a national presence in the US.
I personally met Matt in 2012, as a small group of us were planning 1000 mile journey across Central America meeting with small-scale coffee cooperatives along the way to film and share their stories. These are farmers that Matt, and his colleague Chris Treter of Higher Grounds Trading Company, have had trading relationships with for years. From this trip, My husband and I through Stone Hut Studios were able to produce the series “Fair Trade Chronicles” and documentary “Connected By Coffee”.
